The overall function of this position is to identify and implement new revenue-generating business opportunities that are consistent with the organization’s mission, and to support corporate fundraising efforts. The Manager of Business Development reports to the Director of Business Development
Position Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of an overall revenue-generating strategy from ideation through execution, which will drive the Business Development effort.
Determine a standardized evaluation and prioritization framework.
Research each potential new business opportunity, to determine project feasibility and prepare a written evaluation that includes:
Identifying potential market segments
Conducting competitive analysis
Preparing an operations plan for evaluation
Developing revenue projections
Present the business case for new opportunities to management team at regular meetings.
Manage the initial implementation of any new business project deemed worthy of further testing in Central Park. This will include:
Identifying various revenue-generating sources and partnership opportunities on an ongoing basis
Identifying partners & opportunities and initiating conversations with and soliciting high-potential leads
Negotiating and managing the deal process from first contact to closing
Serving as liaison on an ongoing basis
Establish relationships with strategic business partners, including the City of New York Department of Parks & Recreation, to ensure the quality of any new venture.
Organize and lead cross-departmental efforts.
Assist with the marketing and publicity efforts for all new business initiatives.
Identify, research, and solicit corporate prospects for event and program sponsorships and in-kind contributions
Support annual corporate giving program by managing the administration of member benefits. This will include:
Drafting and distributing invitations and correspondence related to Corporate Partner Program events and activities
Coordinate Corporate Partner participation in volunteer or professional development programs and manage fulfillment of other benefit requests (e.g. picnics, tours, private events, etc.)
Tracking Corporate Partner attendance at events and participation in benefit programs
Responding appropriately to information requests
Assisting with periodic corporate renewal and acquisition mailings
Submit periodic business development and performance activity reports.
Lead multiple deals concurrently.
Supervision of staff may be required
Req. candidate profile :
Additional Qualifications:
BA Degree in a business related discipline.
Proven track record in Business Development, sales, or equivalent.
Demonstrated ability to close deals.
Ability to work with minimal direction.
Strong analytical & Project Management skills.
Knowledge of business & financial analysis models.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills; Strong negotiator with superior presentation skills.
