MDRC is seeking a Research Assistant to join its Family Well-Being and Children’s Development policy area and be part of a multidisciplinary team developing evaluation research on current social policy issues. Studies conducted in the area of Family Well-Being and Children’s Development examine how the developmental trajectories of low-income children can be improved through interventions in family employment and economic security, family relationships and mental health, and child care and early education.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include participating in field research and program development activities; assisting in project management; being actively involved in various stages of producing reports, proposals, and papers (coordinating across authors, writing, fact-checking, and documentation); and assisting the research team in all stages of evaluation design and implementation.

Candidates should have a BA/BS in developmental psychology, economics, public policy, sociology, or a related social science field. Successful candidates should have a demonstrated interest in social policy issues affecting low-income children, a basic understanding of quantitative research methods, and excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Former experience as a research assistant and strong research and writing skills are a plus. Candidates should also be comfortable working in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
