The Environmental Working Group, an environmental research and advocacy organization with offices in Washington, DC and Oakland, CA, seeks a Legislative Analyst to represent EWG. The Analyst will work from EWG’s DC office and report to EWG’s Director of Government Affairs.
Responsibilities:
Implementation and strategic planning of all aspects of EWG’s legislative work under the supervision of the Director of Government Affairs.
Establish and maintain relationships with staff and regulatory agencies, especially by identifying opportunities for EWG that will inform legislative and regulatory initiatives.
Advocate for and organize support for legislation that advances EWG’s agenda of protecting human health and natural resources, or oppose and organize opposition to legislation detrimental to that agenda.
Representation of EWG with the news media.
Data research and maintenance.
Intern supervision.
Req. candidate profile :
Qualifications:
Experience in legislative and policy issues at the national level, including experience drafting and interpreting legislation and regulations.
Lobbying or Hill experience.
Excellent communication skills, including experience with print and broadcast media, and strong written and interpersonal skills.
Independent and creative thinker.
Organized self-starter with the ability to shift gears on a dime.
Experience in media, Internet and grassroots-driven issue advocacy.
Strong commitment to protecting the environment and human health.
