Job description
Job description: This position is responsible for all financial reporting, budget reporting, fiscal control, and preparation for the annual audit.

Duties And Responsibilitties:

Financial Reporting:
  • Responsible for accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements, including budget variance analysis and cash flow forecasting.
  • Reconciles and balances all balance sheet accounts and prepares monthly adjusting entries.
  • Reviews financial status with the Executive Director and prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for the Board and interested agencies (such as lenders and governmental agencies).
  • Develops, distributes and reviews with program staff budget status reports. Works with program staff to insure that expenditures stay within the budget.
  • Prepares periodic reports for expenses associated with common area maintenance.
  • Responsible for maintenance of accounting system including upgrades, interfacing with development department and system administration functions.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, i.e. tax payments and tax filings.

Budgeting:
  • Works with the Executive Director and staff to gather and report budgetary information during the annual and mid-year budget cycles.
  • Responsible for maintenance of the budgeting system (worksheets) and conversion to the general ledger system
  • Develops, and updates as required, specific reports for the Executive Director, Finance & Operations Committee and Board, including ongoing operating cost and expense projections.
  • Prepares grant application budgets and final contract budgets for each grant. Integrates the approved grant budgets and final contract budgets for each grant. Integrates the approved budgets into the overall agency budget. Updates grant expenditure projections and prepares budget revisions as needed.
  • Budgets and tracks ongoing expenditures related to common area maintenance. Responsible for communication with vendors to identify security, maintenance and other costs allocable to common area maintenance.

Fiscal Control:
  • Insures that records are kept orderly.
  • Reconciles bank accounts.
  • Prepare and present cash flow requirements to Executive Director.
  • Makes recommendations as appropriate for improvement of operations and fiscal control.

Annual Audits / Tax Return:
  • Works closely with external auditor to provide required financial data and support.
  • Assists Executive Director in investigating and resolving any issues of concern to the Auditor.
  • Consults with staff on financial matters as needed.
  • Assists with preparation of annual Form 990.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications:

Education:
CPA or Masters of Accounting

Experience:
Two - five years in mid-size or large public accounting firm. Experience with accounting for nonprofit organizations.

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm, and additional hours as required.
