MDRC is seeking a Research Analyst/Associate with program evaluation, implementation and qualitative research skills to join a multi-disciplinary team in the Family Well-Being and Children’s Development policy area that is implementing and evaluating programs for low-income families and children in multiple sites around the country. The demonstration and evaluation projects in this area will provide a new generation of reliable evidence for policymakers about how low-income children and their parents are affected by public policies and programs that are designed to improve families’ economic circumstances, family health and relationships, or children’s early educational experiences.
This Research Analyst/Associate position provides an exciting opportunity to:
Help build a growing policy area at MDRC in family well-being and children’s development;
Provide formative feedback to organizations operating programs under study;
Work with an interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and monitor research procedures at evaluation sites;
Participate in field research and analysis aimed at understanding program implementation and participation;
Develop new methods in implementation data collection and conduct qualitative analyses; and
Improve future programs by authoring reports and disseminating implementation findings.
The successful candidate will participate in the early stages of site development: supporting site staff through early implementation and launching pilot operations; training staff on random assignment processes, and in programmatic areas such as outreach, recruitment, and case management; designing strategies to improve curricula; and providing technical assistance to study sites. As the study progresses, the Associate will assess program implementation and author reports on implementation findings. Implementation research will include visiting programs, conducting observations, and interviewing staff and participants to better understand what services are provided, the quality of the services, and how couples view the services.
