Due to our continued growth and customer demand we are currently recruiting for a qualified, interested and available Designer I for an opportunity in our Antenna
& Cable Group located in Richardson, Texas.
POSITION SUMMARY:
-Uses multi-dimensional modeling CAD software to perform entry-level routine
designer tasks under the guidance and supervision of a senior designer or
engineer. Develops design concepts with attention to appearance and proper
mechanics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
-Assists engineers in the development of complex drawings and detailed
mechanical or electrical drawings of components and assemblies.
-Creates new or modified designs for new or existing products.
-Verifies the work of drafters and checks their details and manufacturer’s
drawings and calculations.
-Makes layouts of complex assemblies and detail parts of devices, mechanisms
and structures. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity,
completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy
of calculations and dimensioning.
-Develops bills of material and related information.
DECISION AUTHORITY:
-Works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment
and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
-Follows standardized work methods on recurring assignments but receives
explicit instruction on new or unfamiliar assignments.
-May select and recommend routine standards in the design of assigned projects.
-May determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
-Must be able to work with all levels of management involving Job/project
assignments, scheduling, mechanical/electrical/electronic requirements and
procurement of materials.
-Must be able to determine/clarify layout requirements, design requirements,
quantities, delivery dates and to secure approval of preliminary designs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two (2) - Three (3) years design experience with 3-D modeling software, Solid
Works or Pro-E experience required.
-Bachelor’s degree in Drafting/CAD or similar discipline required or equivalent
work experience
- Must have experience in the design of electro-mechanical systems, knowledge of
basic electronic manufacturing materials and techniques.
-Must possess intermediate arithmetic skills and be able to use specialized
equipment read difficult instructions and maintain written records.
-Must have knowledge of conventional drafting/design standards and techniques.
-Knowledge/understanding of terms and standard drafting procedures for multi-
dimensional CAD operation/application is required.
-Must be able to sufficiently manage, track and report status of multiple projects.
-Good written and oral communication skills required.
-Must work well in a team environment.
EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS:
-Must be able to operate personal computer.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT:
-10% travel to other Andrew locations.
LEADERSHIP RESONSIBILITY:
-May eventually coach or train drafters.
