Assist the Director of Spacecraft and Vehicle Systems with the technical oversight and administrative management of the Spacecraft and Vehicle Systems Directorate. Approximately sixty percent of the one's time will be in direct support of technical tasks. Use his/her technical expertise to provide guidance, input, review, and assistance on technical tasks within the directorate. Remaining forty percent will be associated with administrative duties. This will include participation in: 1) overall directorate planning, 2) hiring, employee performance planning and evaluation, and training of technical staff, 3) resource allocation, tracking, and control, 4) task order development, MAR preparation, and task monitoring, 5) MSFC Director/Department level communications, 6) implementation of the ESTS Group safety program, 7) adherence to safety program and goals, 8) ISO 9000 Quality System implementation, maintenance, and improvement, 9) subcontractor management and oversight, and 10) the implementation of executive management initiatives.
Education, Training & Experience
BS degree (MS or PhD desired) in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems engineering, Physics or related field from an ABET accredited institution and a minimum of 11 years experience in the design/analysis of aerospace systems is required. Outstanding technical qualifications in one or more of the following areas are required: 1) design and development of integrated electrical/electronic systems, 2) space vehicle design and integration , 3) design and analysis of mechanical space systems, 4) development and or integration of flight hardware or payloads, 5) design, development, verification/validation of flight software systems, 6) integrated logistics support, and 7) systems integration and analysis. Broad cross-cutting experience/familiarity with the technologies used in these technical areas will be viewed favorably. Outstanding communication, interpersonal, problem resolution, and leadership skills.
