Assist the Director of Materials and Processes Directorate with the technical oversight and administrative management of the Materials and Processes Directorate. Approximately 60% of the candidate’s time will be in direct support of technical tasks. This includes using his/her technical expertise to provide input, guidance, review, and assistance on technical tasks within the directorate. The remaining 40% of the candidate’s time will be associated with administrative duties. This will include participation in: 1) overall directorate planning and management of technical performance, scheduling and cost of Task Orders, 2) implementation of the ESTS group safety program, 3) task order development, approval and tracking, MAR preparation, 4) resource allocation, tracking, and control, 5) hiring, employee performance planning, development, and evaluation, 6) ESTS and MSFC Director/Department level communication, 7)ESTS management System implementation, maintenance, and improvement, 8) subcontractor management and oversight, 9) tracking and approval of purchases, 10) the implementation of ESTS management initiatives.
Education, Training & Experience
BS degree (MS or PhD desired) in Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or related field from an ABET accredited institution with a minimum of 14 years experience in analysis and/or testing of aerospace materials is required. Outstanding qualifications in one or more of the following areas are required: materials selection and control; materials testing; manufacturing and process development; materials fracture and fatigue analysis and/or testing; nonmetallic materials analysis or processing. Broad cross-cutting experience/familiarity with the technologies and systems used in these technical areas will be viewed favorably. Outstanding communication, interpersonal, problem resolution, and leadership skills are required.
