Americas Society and Council of the Americas are two separate not-for-profit organizations founded to promote better understanding and dialogue in the Western Hemisphere and work in close collaboration to advance their respective missions. The Society and Council offer the most trusted and respected forum for debate and dialog on the compelling issues in our hemisphere. From economic cooperation to culture, from advocacy and education to advancing investment and growth strategies, the organizations play a leadership role in bringing decision makers and opinion leaders to the table.
The Society and Council seek a seasoned manager for the Communications Department to build and expand the organizations’ media and press strategy and coordinate publications.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement media plans, including strategy, tactics, press pitches, media outreach, and press kits
- Expand the organizations’ relationships with top media outlets to ensure a strong branding image
- Coordinate all media relations activities, such as organize press conferences, respond to media inquiries, media registration, etc.
- Coordinate publications and communications materials of the Council/Society, including mid-year, end-of-year, and annual reports; seasonal cultural brochures; and membership brochures, among others. Guide multiple simultaneous projects through concept to completion stages
- Write and edit external/internal communications materials, including articles, news releases, media pitches
- Track news and media hits
- Build and manage a network of freelancers and providers, including designers and printers

| Req. candidate profile : |
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will have a strong interest and background in the Americas and the related missions of these organizations along with a minimum of five years related experience
- Journalism, marketing, or communications education preferred.
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Strong writing skills; excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple, diverse projects and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual English-Spanish required. Portuguese, a plus.
