We are looking for an experienced manager to help lead our community and national work in preventing violence. This position will include responsibility for: leadership, oversight, supervision, and implementation of projects; advancing practice and policy; and responsibilities within the organization. The Institute’s approach is interdisciplinary in nature, addressing health and social issues such as violence prevention, injury prevention, traffic safety, and nutrition and physical activity promotion. The Institute is particularly committed to reducing disparities in health and safety. This position will have a focus on preventing violence though may include work on other topics. The Institute works nationally on preventing intimate partner violence, sexual assault and violence affecting youth and communities.
Responsibilities may include:
- Day to day management of violence prevention projects: Management of violence prevention projects, deliverables, and project staff; Ensuring successful and timely completion; Project and conceptual development; Ongoing program design, implementation, and evaluation; Applying research findings to improve prevention initiatives and conducting and synthesizing research; Co-authoring concept papers and articles for publication.
- Training and Technical Assistance: Developing training tools and curricula and conducting trainings and presentations; Providing technical assistance and consultation to communities, government, and organizations.
- Development: Identifying appropriate funding sources; fostering relationships; writing concept papers and grants.
- Organizational Development: Sharing in organizational strategy development; Management of organizational responsibilities, including strengthening internal structures; Oversight and leadership on multiple tasks and supervision of multiple staff; Assuming a leadership role in the organization such as representing the Institute to others, mentoring junior staff, and advancing internal/external opportunities for the organization
- Other: Pitching in on other projects and assignments as needed.

| Req. candidate profile : |
- Project management: Demonstrated track record in managing violence prevention projects and contracts; supervision of staff at multiple levels
- Violence prevention knowledge: Experience in and understanding of effective primary prevention; understanding of effective youth, school, community, family, sexual, and/or intimate partner violence prevention and the history of the violence against women movement. Experience in coalition work at the local or state level desired; Experience in reviewing qualitative and quantitative research
- Communication and facilitation skills: Excellent speaking, writing and analytical skills; Strong public speaking, consultation, and training skills
- Training and technical assistance: Experience developing training materials; training providers in-person or via distance learning technology; and working with local, state, or federal entities on strategy development, prevention effectiveness, coalition-building, and/or sustainability.
- Commitment: Commitment to and demonstrated success in prevention; Desire to achieve significant prevention outcomes; Commitment to reducing disparities in health and safety
- Education: Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience & a minimum of 3 – 5 years related post graduate experience
