Job description: The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization

The LEED for Homes Program Director will collaborate with USGBC staff to develop and refine the related LEED for Homes programmatic services, including educational offerings, marketing materials, an online presence, and appropriate content and channels for communication with industry stakeholders. This position will work with technical committees, staff and contractors to engage industry stakeholders and experts including local and national homebuilding organizations in developing technical assessment criteria and procedures through a consensus-based process.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Prepare annual and long-range LEED for Homes budget and program plans in collaboration with the LEED for Homes department staff and committee.
  • Establish and foster relationships with local and national homebuilding organizations and other residential building industry stakeholders.
  • Manage procurement and oversight of LEED for Homes contractors and vendors.
  • Serve as primary liaison to the LEED for Homes Core Committee and LEED for Homes Providers.
  • Manage grant solicitation, administration and reporting as needed.
  • Coordinate development and delivery of resources, services and training to support the use of the LEED for Homes Rating System.
  • Coordinate with Marketing staff and committee members to promote the use of the LEED for Homes Rating System.
  • Prepare program and financial progress reports on LEED for Homes as needed.
  • Conduct LEED for Homes information sessions and trainings as needed.
  • Handle media inquiries and outreach to industry organizations on LEED for Homes as needed.

Related Organizational Goals and Objectives:
  • Encourage and accelerate global adoption of green building practices through LEED standards, tools and performance criteria.
  • Create a self-sustaining – and potential revenue-generating – program for the USGBC consistent with the mission of LEED and the Council.
  • Offer a comprehensive portfolio of programs including technical tools and services supporting LEED products to meet the diverse needs of the building industry.
  • Earn widespread and routine endorsement by industry leaders and stakeholders.
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications/Skills:
  • 7-10 years program development and management experience including work plan and budget preparation
  • Four-year technical (architecture, engineering, construction), management, or business undergraduate degree, preferably with a Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Relevant homebuilding and/or environmental management experience
  • Financial management, procurement, and grant administration experience
  • Effective written and interpersonal communications skills
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills and team leadership experience
  • Bachelors degree in relevant technical or management discipline; Masters preferred
  • Familiarity with LEED for Homes and other voluntary green homebuilding programs
  • Experience in rapidly changing organization; ability to understand and manage change; ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment.
