Asian Arts Initiative is a growing community-based arts center that sponsors performances and exhibitions, art-making workshops and classes, and leadership development and training for artists, youth, and adults.
The Program Manager will have primary responsibility for the range of activities connected to planning and implementation of the Asian Arts Initiative’s various artistic productions and educational programs for artists, youth, and adults; audience outreach and growth; program development, and implementation. The Program Manager will report to the Associate Director, but will work closely with the Executive Director, and will supervise a Program Assistant, consultants, and volunteers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Asian Arts Initiative values engagement in the artistic process and youth development. We are looking for a Program Manager with a grassroots community organizing spirit, combined with strong administration skills.
The Program Manager will be expected to:
- Develop programs and manage program budget in coordination with other staff;
- Conduct outreach to artists; manage curatorial process and the hiring, contracting, and scheduling of artists;
- Maintain ongoing communication and provide guidance to artists to deliver performances/programs;
- Plan and conduct marketing, outreach, and public relations for audience development;
- Facilitate outreach and registration for educational programs;
- Pursue sponsor development and fundraising in coordination with other staff;
- Ensure recruitment and supervision of volunteers and consultants to assist in program planning and implementation, including event management;
- Recruit and facilitate project advisory committees and artist selection panels;
- Oversee logistical coordination, such as scheduling and facilities usage;
- Devise and implement evaluation and documentation practices;
- Develop and/or give guidance to artists or other consultants to develop workshop curricula and other educational activities or materials to provide social and political context for artistic work in the programs.

Additional Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with theater/performance-based arts production and educational programs;
- Strong project management skills, able to multi-task with reliable follow-through;
- Public relations/marketing experience in promoting programs and audience development/cultivation;
- Community outreach experience, especially with youth, volunteers, and artists;
- Supervisory experience managing staff and volunteers;
- Group facilitation experience;
- Strong artist support, development and feedback experience.
