Job description

  • Produce high quality end-user documentation and procedures for a technical audience. Work on all phases of information development from information gathering, research, and interviewing, to writing and editing.
  • Contribute to Style Guide development and apply Marvell style standards consistently.
  • Produce graphics and illustrations using Visio, such as timing diagrams, block diagrams and flow charts.
  • Produce high quality page layouts for optimal usability. Also, contribute to template design.
  • Produce paper and electronic versions of documentation using Adobe FrameMaker, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Manage competing deadlines and prioritize projects appropriately.
  • Drive document projects across the project team to keep with schedules and document quality.
  • Seek, recommend and initiate improvements in process flow using the technical communicator's Handbook as a reference.
  • Support Design Engineers documentation efforts by training them on software tools, such as FrameMaker and Visio, as well as by communicating our documentation process as described in our Handbook and in the Engineering Process Flow guidelines to improve efficiency in raw data transfer between the designer and writer.
  • Introduce tools for more efficient means of document production and train others on advanced features of publishing software tools.
Req. candidate profile :
  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical field or technical communications.
  • Up to 8 years experience in the field accompanied by an extensive portfolio.
  • A thorough understanding of the publishing process and the ability to work with raw engineering data and develop it into end-user documentation.
  • Experience using Style Guides such as Chicago Manual of Style and the Microsoft Manual of Style.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Excellent ability to work either in a team environment or individually when required.
  • Expert level of knowledge in desktop publishing tools such as FrameMaker, and basic style usage within these tools, as well as page layout skills.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

Preferable experience:
  • Engineering or software work experience.

Preferable characteristics:
  • A can do attitude with a strong desire to get the job done well.
