- Prior FAA experience is a plus. Primary duties are maintenance of telecommunications systems/equipment, site survey and data verification/collection, defining site preparation requirements, equipment installation, equipment verification and test, recognition and response to network faults, isolation of trouble, response to network trouble tickets, and restoration of service within the given time frame. Ensures proactive (preventive) maintenance is performed and establishes a good customer relationship. Work is performed at various FAA sites. Interfaces with FAA Telecom Technicians, FAA site maintenance personnel, FAA ops and telecom service providers. May work as part of a team, independently, or supervise a team of one or two other installation and maintenance technicians and ensures performance per the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Work schedules at sites must minimize possible impacts and/or work around FAA site operational schedules. Therefore, work schedule may involve irregular periods of work, odd hours and some overtime. Additionally, work may require responding urgently, when assigned to be on-call for a geographic area, if equipment failures occur at any hour or day of the week. Position requires regular, typically daily, coordination with the Lead Technician and the Regional Installation and Maintenance Manager.

Education:
- Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
- Prior FAA experience is a plus. Must meet FAA Contractor personnel Suitability Requirements. Experience performing and supervising the installation, integration, test, configuration management, cutover and maintenance of interfacility telecommunications systems. Experience with the processes of site coordination and determining site preparation requirements, equipment installation, test, cutover and acceptance at operational FAA facilities. Able to work productively and efficiently as a team member or team leader, and interface effectively with customers and regional management personnel.
- Installs, maintains, rearranges, adds to, and removes complex/clustered data modems/applications (multiplexors), Multiservice Switches (i.e., Cisco C-8250, C-2950-24, C-4006), Routers (Cisco C-1760, C3640, C3662), Basic understanding of routing protocols, Loop Electronics for Complex Distribution Media (i.e., T-Carrier, Fiber, etc.), and small multi-user computer systems.
- Reviews, interprets, and works with work sheets, equipment, circuit layout drawings, and wiring diagrams; blue prints, practices describing nature and location of systems and equipment to be installed and/or repaired (i.e. rack elevation, cable management, etc.); follows established work procedures; tracks and reports status.
- Experience with the installation, rearrangement and removal of various types of telecommunications equipment/services.
- Works with complex testing devices such as frequency and data signal generators, oscilloscopes, transmission measuring sets, volt-ohm meters and others to install and repair telecommunication equipment.
- Experience in an ISO 9000 compliant or equivalent quality management environment.
