Job description
Job description: CAT’s mission is to work with our community to save the lives of homeless, sick and injured cats and kittens by offering shelter, adoption, foster, hospice, and veterinary services to end needless feline euthanasia in our community.

The Shelter Supervisor is responsible for managing shelter coordinators and caregivers, maintaining the professional appearance and cleanliness of the shelter, providing excellent customer service (incl. adopters, clients, fosters, and volunteers), overseeing the adoption program, and caring for our cats. The Shelter Supervisor will work with all staff members and volunteers to help CAT succeed in its mission of adopting out healthy cats and kittens to loving homes.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Caregivers and Coordinators- including hiring, coaching, performance appraisals, discipline etc.
  • Coordinate training of staff – on-going and new processes and procedures and policies through various methods: team training, meetings, one on one
  • Schedule Shelter Staff, monitor payroll, days off and point person for covering changes & vacations
  • Project the professional image of our organization in dealing with adopters, clients, foster parents, and volunteers in a courteous, respectful manner
  • Maintain a professional appearance and standard of cleanliness in the facility. This includes all cat/kitten care, organizational maintenance, laundry and janitorial work in the shelter
  • Ensure front desk operations are carried out in an efficient and customer friendly manner – including accurate processing of financial transactions, answering the phone, scheduling hospital appointments, and returning messages in a timely manner
  • Oversee Adoption Counseling program including recruiting, training, scheduling, and preparation of materials
  • Support Outreach Coordinators – ensuring they are provided all the help they need to successfully stock and maintain their site
  • Support Events on and off site – awareness, volunteer coordination etc.
  • Resolve Volunteer and Customer Concerns- coordinate with medical team when needed
  • Uphold the policies and procedures of C.A.T., utilizing this foundation from which to solve daily issues and problems in order to achieve organizational goals.

Req. candidate profile : Additional Qualifications:

Qualifications/Experience:
  • 5 years professional experience
  • Prior shelter, veterinary hospital, or animal control experience preferred.
  • 3 years managerial/supervisory experience required
  • Previous experience working within a volunteer organization desired.

Skills:
  • Proven customer service experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to problem solve and multi-task
  • Fostering teamwork, managing multiple tasks, etc
  • Computer knowledge (Microsoft office, Impromed, etc)
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a team environment
  • Exceptional planning, time management, and organizational skills a must
