Job description
Job description: City Parks Foundation (CPF) is an independent, non-profit organization that produces arts, sports and educational programs, free of charge, for over 600,000 kids and adults annually in parks throughout New York City. CPF also organizes communities to support their neighborhood parks. Together, these activities improve parks and communities in neighborhoods in all five boroughs.

Over the past few years, City Parks Foundation has become the largest presenter of arts programs in New York City: the Arts & Cultural Programs department produces over 1,100 performances each year in more than 100 parks.CPF arts series—all of which are free to the public—include Central Park SummerStage, CityParks Concerts (including the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival), CityParks Dance, CityParks Theater and CityParks Kids. CPF also programs the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre and operates the CityParks.

  • Reporting to the Executive Director of CPF, manage all of CPF’s arts and cultural programs, by providing overall artistic direction, production expertise and strategic vision. Expand existing programs and launch new ones, as appropriate, to meet the needs of NYC’s parks, residents and performing artists.
  • Develop and administer $4 million departmental budget. Supervise all staff.
  • Work productively with CPF’s marketing, public relations, development and finance departments. Collaborate with sports, education and Partnerships for Parks programs to meet overall CPF mission of improving parks. Participate in CPF’s senior management team.
  • Report to Board of Directors and Board’s Arts Committee on a regular basis.
  • Communicate organization’s artistic mission and programming to the public, media, funders, Board of Directors, staff and others.
Req. candidate profile :
  • Substantial production and artistic experience, preferably in several different artforms and preferably in New York City.
  • Ability to provide vision and artistic direction for a wide variety of programs, reaching an enormous diversity of audiences.
  • Ability to work productively with CPF Board members, administrative employees, production staff, artists, funders and community members.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends, especially during the summer months, and to travel to parks in all five boroughs.
