Job description: YWP is a multi-cultural organization that builds and supports teen women and girl leaders so that they can improve their own lives and transform their communities.

Position Summary:

The TWA Training Associate will conduct after school training at 3 high school sites, prepare for and evaluate sessions, provide support to teen participants, and work as part of a team to build a successful program. The TWA TA reports to the TWA Senior Manager. The work is performed in a professional office environment with frequent visits to DC public high schools.


Responsibilities:

TWA TA responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct interactive, issue-skills training for 7-13 teens at each of three sites (21-39 total);
  • Provide peer counseling, academic, and social service resources to individual teen women;
  • Conduct research and develop materials and exercises for a range of issues;
  • Lead needs assessment and project development for team projects.
  • Contribute to the development of a teen-led project during the summer
  • Maintain administrative systems for Teen Women in Action (including files, binders, data entry)
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications:
  • 2 years experience doing training and/or group facilitation
  • 1 year experience working with youth
  • I year experience with administrative systems
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice, youth empowerment, and antioppression work
  • Understanding of teen women’s issues and leadership development needs
  • Self motivated, efficient and able to meet deadlines
  • Some experience with project development and implementation * Accountability, resourcefulness, and ability to work under pressure; and
  • Knowledge of DC public schools.
