Job description: Hilltop is a learning community, built around the relationships among all the children, families, and teachers that make up our program.

The Executive director is a newly reinstituted position that will lead Hilltop into its future at a new location, with an enhanced program and the exciting opportunity to serve a larger and diverse community.

The Executive director will operate the center:

Engaging staff, board and parents in developing the organization’s strategic direction, overseeing business staff and consultants (including the program director who, in turn, oversees all classroom staff), developing budgets and fundraising strategies, creating marketing campaigns aimed at ensuring a strong and diverse enrollment, managing facility issues, developing center policies, and staffing the center’s governing board.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding the organization’s operations and future development, especially in light of the forthcoming changes in facility and program
  • Maintain a positive and strong organizational culture that helps attract and retain competent, enthusiastic staff
  • Staff the organization’s governing board
  • Supervise business staff and program director
  • In consultation with the program director, develop policies and systems for the center that ensure program effectiveness, including maintaining collaborative relations with the union
  • Serve as main Hilltop contact with landlord and manage all facility issues
  • Manage human resources and information technology

Budgeting & Fiscal Oversight
  • Develop Hilltop’s annual budget of over $1 million with input from staff and oversight from the governing board
  • Manage operating expenses
  • Work to retire debt related to the facility relocation

Fundraising
  • Provide support for and work to enhance Hilltop’s program by forging partnerships with funders committed to children
  • Develop and carry out fundraising strategies designed to further Hilltop’s program with the involvement and support of the governing board
  • In partnership with Hilltop’s program director, identify ways to enhance the Reggio program and find funding to do so

Marketing
  • Create and carry out marketing campaigns designed to keep waitlists robust and draw in a diverse community
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally with a graduate degree in the areas of business, non-profit management, or other related field.
  • Five to seven years of demonstrated responsible leadership and management experience, including strategic planning, board development and organizational development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Documented success in building revenues through innovative market-driven activities.
  • Documented success in fundraising.
  • Commitment to and active support of child care advocacy and anti-bias practices.
