The IRC is a leading nonsectarian, voluntary organization providing relief, protection and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Under the supervision of the Community and Economic Development Manager the Microenterprise Program Coordinator will support the continued development of the IRC Microenterprise program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in both the outreach and recruitment of program participants, as well as the screening and assessment process of all interested refugees for program eligibility
- Conduct coordination of training sessions, technical assistance, lending, industry and market research, and other areas related to business start-up
- Assist program staff to actively develop alternative sources of funding to expand the size and capacity of the Microenterprise Program
- Conduct individual case management and loan collections, including "off site" technical assistance visits to the businesses or homes of program participants
- Proactively facilitate referrals to outside service providers as necessary to meet the diverse needs of the program participants
- Ensure that information required for program eligibility and reporting purposes is collected and that accurate records are maintained, including program reports and on-going program evaluations as required. Ensures necessary steps are taken to obtain relevant data in a timely fashion
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings with other IRC staff and volunteers as part of the review, evaluation and program maintenance process.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of classroom activities when necessary

Additional Qualifications:
Education:
Four-year degree required: B.S. in Business Administration, or B.A with some business background; business experience in lieu of formal business education is acceptable
Experience:
Finance, micro-credit, banking and lending experience desirable; grant writing, entrepreneurial, and international experience a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in Arabic or Vietnamese highly desirable. Works and communicates well with people of varied backgrounds. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to make presentations are important. Flexibility, dependability, and creativity are desired. Ability to work independently, be a self-starter and maintain responsibility for multiple tasks. Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines under pressure. Regular travel to off-site locations is required.
