Job description
Job description: NYCfNAC is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Director of Lending, who will manage a joint lending operation serving small businesses and other borrowers within New York City on behalf of the credit unions. The Director of Lending will be responsible for originating, underwriting and processing loan applications from both established business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Responsibilities include explaining documentation requirements and communicating with clients throughout the loan process, as well as assisting the credit unions with the loan closing. The lending officer will evaluate loan applications and make a credit recommendation that takes into account the credit union's loan policy. The Director of Lending will follow-up with each applicant to convey credit decisions and to secure the applicant's acceptance of the commitment terms. Important factors in assessing the Director of Lending’s work include their response time and the quality of applications approved.

  • Actively solicit loan prospects from multiple sources and work closely with referral agents
  • Market NYCfNAC’s business loan program through conferences, panel presentations and networking events
  • Meet with prospective applicants, collect information, and assist applicants to complete loan applications
  • Fully document and underwrite loans, including assessment of financial statements, projections and sales records
  • Prepare analyses of applicants' ability and willingness to repay
  • Conduct visits to business locations
  • Research applicants' industries and target markets
  • Write credit recommendations and present to Credit Committee
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to clients regarding business plans and financial projections
  • Manage the approval, closing and disbursement of loans, including preparation of closing documents
Req. candidate profile :
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and financial analysis skills
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced working environment and multi-task
  • Capable of interacting with multiple parties involved in a single transaction and communicating effectively with individuals of different cultural and educational backgrounds
  • Posses firm understanding of accounting and finance
  • Computer proficient and ability to use common MS software.
