In conjunction with the General Merchandise Manager, identifies regular and promotional prices. Works with the Merchandising team to execute pricing strategy and maintain price and cost files. Collaborates with Merchandising, Design and Planning teams to select items for placement in stores. Identifies appropriate items for target customer group. Sets up and maintains item specific information to assist in tracking the development and performance of assortment items. Determines purchase order sizes based on sales history, sales forecasts, customer demographics, item attributes, and store space. Creates a replenishment strategy and partners with Manufacturing and Vendors to ensure on time delivery. Tracks order commitment against "Open to Buy" and adjusts commitments and delivery schedules as required to meet business demands. Creates, revises, and cancels garment purchase orders as needed and communicates changes as required to appropriate stakeholders. In conjunction with the Planning Team, creates merchandise forecasts and projections to determine reserve manufacturing capacity and seasonal plans, and to justify inventory investments. Summarizes and presents category results monthly, including presentation and action plan follow up that addresses future sales and receipt plans in recognition of current sales trends.
Determines metrics to judge vendor performance and tracks vendor's performance against deadlines and quality standards. Develops strategies to address substandard vendor performance.Collaborates with the General Merchandise Manager to create and oversee in-season merchandise promotion strategy, including selection of styles and quantities of items to be promoted. Assists Marketing Department to execute marketing strategies as required.Assists General Merchandise Manager to identify new "hot" styles and tests them with the customer. Follows up and summarizes test results and recommends future positioning on all styles tested.
Performs special projects:In conjunction with the Marketing Department, develops customer only events, identifies new merchandise categories, and assists in developing seasonal product presentations as required and the like. Coordinates flow of inactive samples from Design and Imports teams, creates purchase orders and initiates shipping. Orders, catalogs, and maintains sample garments to be used for photo shoots and corporate events. Ensures samples are available as required. | Job duties: |
Minimum of 2 years' progressive fashion merchandising experience or related retail sales along with the equivalent of post-secondary education in a related discipline Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills required along with understanding of key retail "metrics" (sales, contribution, turn, etc.) |
