Job description
Job description: The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the Massachusetts Coalition of School-Based Health Centers (MCSBHC). The MCSBHC is a non-profit organization established to support and promote school-based health centers to assure that all children receive high quality, comprehensive health care.

Under the supervision of the Board of Directors and in accordance with MCSBHC policies and procedures and requirements of program funders and resources, the Executive Director works with the Board of Directors, and its Committees and membership to maintain the goals and meet the objectives of the MCSBHC. He/she will provide timely written and oral reports to the Board and its Committees on the MCSBHC’s activities and progress toward meeting objectives and on the financial and compliance status of the MCSBHC. The Executive Director shall report annually to the Corporation on the progress of meeting the goals and objectives of the MCSBHC and its finances.

Key and Essential Duties:
  • Organize and direct all MCSBHC staff, interns, consultants and service contracts toward accomplishing the goals and objectives of the MCSBHC.
  • Develop, oversee, and assure implementation of public relations and marketing strategies to promote school-based health centers, gather, assess and maintain current data and information for the Board and public on the role and effectiveness of school based health centers. Support efforts and activities to provide for evaluation of school based health centers.
  • Seeking resources to carry on existing programs, support sustainability of the MCSBHC to achieve its goals and to meet agreed to needs of member school-based health centers. Acquire necessary resources through grants, dues, fundraising, contracts and collaborative programs, projects and joint ventures. Oversee development and implementation of special projects.
  • Work collaborative with key funders, ie W. K. Kellogg Foundation and the MA Department of Public Health, and government representatives and departments to address and support the needs of school-based health centers.
  • Assure compliance with all established personnel policies and recommend changes when appropriate to the Board for approval.
  • Direct, maintain and control all aspects of the finances of the MCSBHC including overseeing fiduciary and financial management staff or service relationships. Assure timely preparation of budgets, financial statements and other information for the Treasurer and Board of Directors, as required; assure appropriate procedures are followed for the collection, deposit and documentation of funds; assure compliance with funding source requirements for use of funds and reporting.
  • Serve as spokesperson for the MCSBHC, represent the MCSBHC and its members at public and private meetings, conferences and other public forums locally and nationally, keep the membership informed of ongoing services provided by the MCSBHC, develop and coordinate external relationships.
  • Provide necessary staff support to role and development of the Board and its Committees. Assure development with the Board of a strategic business plan to guide the MCSBHC activities.
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications:

Knowledge/Degree/License Requirements:
  • Masters degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Thorough knowledge of school-based health centers and community-based health care issues

Experience Requirements:
  • At least three years of relevant experience
  • Extensive experience in dealing with community based organizations
  • Demonstrated experience with fiscal management, grants management and writing and human resource management.
  • Demonstrated fundraising experience and interest.
  • Experience with public relations, volunteer and outreach programs.
  • Governmental relations experience including knowledge of politics and community issues.

Skills Requirements:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer capabilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be self directed, demonstrate initiative, and work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and agendas with in limited resources.
