Job description
Job description: The mission of cityWILD is to provide low income, culturally diverse youth with outdoor and environmental service learning opportunities that promote developmental themes of personal empowerment, leadership and community participation, as well as to motivate participants to reach their potential at home, in school and within their community.

Responsibilities:

The Executive Director is Personally Responsible for:
  • Further developing and maintaining the logic model, annual goals & ob
  • Management of brand, marketing, public relations, and all other external
  • Leading and managing all fundraising strategies to ensure cohesion
  • relationships with foundations, government, corporations, individual donors
  • grant application strategy and execution
  • corporate fundraising strategy and implementation
  • private fundraising strategy and implementation and financial management of systems
  • Hiring/firing of all staff, direct supervision of Directors
  • Establishing employee guidelines, policy and programs
  • Developing and maintaining community partnerships
  • Evaluation of programs and staff, including data collection systems, analysis, and presentation
  • Public Speaking and presentation to funders, association

Reporting Relationships:

This position reports directly to the Board of Directors, including main communication with the Board President. Other directors (Program, Support Services, River Manager and respective directors.)

This position works with Board of Directors (primarily Board President) on:
  • approving annual budget, financial reporting, and policy
  • fundraising, specifically
  • committee assignments and coordination of Board of Directors work
  • long-term strategic planning and policy development

Position works with Program Director on:
  • curriculum development and implementation
  • annual calendars, planning, and logistics
  • student guidelines and policy
  • risk management policies
  • developing and approving Program Budget
  • managing program staff
  • problem solving and crisis

Position works with Support Services Director on:
  • youth and family services scope and definition of services
  • relationships with community, schools, and government agencies
  • Inclusiveness Initiative (beyond diversity, to develop leadership, develop community ownership of organization
  • managing related interns (social services team including all case management)
Req. candidate profile : Personal Qualificiations:
  • Experience working with youth from low-income families and racially/ethnically diverse backgrounds
  • Proven leadership experience with small to mid-size organizations including managing staff and operations
  • Visionary strategic thinking, planning, and ability to work in an action oriented, dynamic environment
  • Ability to multi-task, managing a wide spectrum of responsibilities and demands, including effective delegation
  • Fundraising experience developing and managing an individual donors base, grants, sponsorships, and events
  • Demonstrated experience in the outdoors, youth development, and environmental education
  • Spanish language ability would be helpful
  • Bachelors Degree and five years experience in related fields


Required Skills or Experience:
  • Organizational leadership in a $500,000 (annual budget) nonprofit or services company with 5-20 staff
  • Fundraising experience including:, individual donor prospecting and development, event planning and execution, and solicitation of corporate sponsorships, and grant writing and management experience working with communities of color, low income communities, and low performing schools
  • Comfort with and knowledge of working with youth using the outdoors as a medium
  • Ability to manage a broad spectrum of responsibilities requiring effectively delegating resources demonstrated
  • Public speaking and presentation skills to large groups
