Junior Achievement of New York (JANY) is the local affiliate of JA Worldwide. The mission of JANY is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. JANY achieves its mission by providing students with age-appropriate programs focused on financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship.
To work effectively with the Programs Team and all JANY colleagues to sustain relationships within an established nonprofit, increase program quality & expand into new areas, and achieve our goals by reaching a target number of students within the five boroughs of New York City.
Work to handle a portfolio of volunteer accounts and projects. This portfolio will enable the Manager to serve as the liaison between the companies that provide us with corporate volunteers and the schools where they deliver programming. The primary focus will be on the recruitment, training, and placement of volunteers, and will include time spent out in the field running volunteer events and becoming a visible presence to our partners. This Manager will also need to build relationships within assigned schools to strengthen our collaborative efforts to bring JANY to their students. In addition, s/he may assist in the development of organizational initiatives as part of a team of other managers, and lead or participate in teams focused on specific projects or events.
Organizational Relationships:
- This position directly reports to: Director, Programs. This position does not directly supervise any other team members.
Key Areas Of Responsibility:
- Reach Students - Meet or exceed account-based goals to reach a high volume of students within assigned channels
- Ensure Quality - Implement programs in line with JANY standards and increase their value to constituents
- Manage Relationships - Build, manage and strengthen assigned relationships, expand program to new partners
- Manage Projects - Successfully manage assigned programmatic projects, including coordinating participation of volunteers and students in JANY events
- Recruit & Train - Successfully conduct recruitment and training sessions for external constituents
- Report Data - Prepare updates and progress reports while ensuring that data input deadlines are consistently met
- Develop Key Initiatives - Assist in the development and implementation of key organizational initiatives, such as our 2010 Plan for growth, focused on increasing our reach of middle and high school students.

Position Specification: (Education, Experience, Certification and Knowledge/Skills/Abilities)
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree, evidence of strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to effectively speak in public settings, desire to work with volunteers and connect them to community organizations and New York City schools, superior organizational and project management skills, strong ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, knowledge of MS Office 2003, ability to work productively both autonomously and in a team setting.
Desired:
- Excellent computer skills; proven experience in marketing and sales; previous work with educational programming or volunteer-based projects; experience with training groups of 20 plus people; ability to work with, organize and motivate corporate volunteers; Raiser’s Edge database experience.
