City Parks Foundation (CPF) is an independent, non-profit organization that produces arts, sports and education programs, largely free of charge, for over 600,000 kids, adults, and seniors in parks throughout New York City. CPF also organizes communities to support neighborhood parks through its Partnerships for Parks program.
As part of the Red Hook Catalyst project, City Parks Foundation will hire a coordinator for the duration of the project, approximately two years, to work in collaboration with the Red Hooks Parks administrator and local community-based organizations to strategically coordinate partners and resources to improve the neighborhood’s parks and public spaces through community organizing, targeted programming, and physical improvements. The project end date may be adjusted based on future needs.
- Work with Parks administrator and project partners to develop a clearly articulated vision for Red Hook parks and the Recreation Center, and a long term plan for implementation
- Engage current and new project partners that represent the diversity of users and the make-up of the surrounding community including local residents, organizations, and institutions
- Assist administrator in priority setting, organize meetings and related projects, conduct program research, and provide technical assistance
- Develop marketing and outreach tools to promote the park in collaboration with City Parks Foundation and the Department of Parks and Recreation
- In collaboration with Parks administrator and local community-based organizations, increase organized activity in the parks and Recreation Center and coordinate with City Parks Foundation to bring arts, sports, and educational programming to the Red Hook parks
- Increase the number of grants and/or amount of private and public resources secured on behalf of the parks
- Document project successes and lessons learned through reports and presentations

| Req. candidate profile : |
- Dynamic and creative problem solver; commitment and passion for civic engagement
- Confidence working with diverse constituencies, public and private sectors
- Familiarity with New York City, Brooklyn, and/or Red Hook area
- At least 2-3 years of relevant community organizing, planning, and project management experience
- Strong facilitation skills
- Fundraising experience a plus
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
- Bachelor’s Degree, advanced degree preferred
