Job description
Job description: Oversee all new business development and fundraising activities. Design new initiatives and programs, develop strategic relationships with partner organizations (both international and local) and donors (government and foundations), and write grant proposals to secure new funding and increase financial support for Partners for Democratic Change (Partners). Provide some management and backstopping support on select contracts and grants.

  • Work with President to create and implement development/fundraising strategy, work plans and benchmarks;
  • Take a leadership role in designing new programs and initiatives;
  • Create and maintain strategic partnerships with funders and partners;
  • Provide management and backstopping to select contracts and grants;
  • Conduct in-country assessments to develop new programs;
  • Supervise the design and preparation of all proposals, grants and fee for service activities;
  • Write grant proposals and develop grant-related budgets;
  • Carry out negotiations with project partners and contracting organizations;
  • Work with the Director of International Programs to coordinate activities between the program and development teams;
  • Work with the Chief Financial Officer to coordinate activities between development and finance; and,
  • Other duties as assigned.
Req. candidate profile :
  • A minimum of five years related experience in designing and writing proposals, particularly proposals to the federal government, and managing contracts;
  • A track record of creating and sustaining strategic partnerships and negotiating with prime contractors and project partners;
  • Experience with short-term assignments in the field;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or competency in one or more of Partners’ program areas (e.g. conflict resolution, civil society, good governance);
  • Excellent oral and writing skills; ability to express complex ideas clearly;
  • High level of interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with all levels of staff, both US and foreign nationals, within civil society, government and the private sector;
  • Ability to analyze, organize, problem-solve, manage, and prioritize work;
  • Team-player and ability to multi-task;
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines;
  • Advanced degree; and,
  • Language skills preferred though not required.
