Job description: New England Aquarium opened its doors to the public for the first time. The Aquarium was designed with the intention of providing an underwater experience for the visitor and of being a cultural institution that would reconnect Boston to its waterfront. Program and curriculum development:
  • Create and manage agendas
  • Book and reserve summer field trips and transportation
  • Manage camp operations in the summer season including:
  • Database management and record keeping
  • Parent communications and parent support
  • Day to day operations (rosters, supplies, food etc)
  • Seek out and maintain partnerships with institutions that can support and enhance the program’s mission.
  • Train and manage seasonal staff
  • Assist with budget:
  • Assist in budget creation based on curriculum developed
  • Assist in budget management and tracking
  • Ordering equipment and supplies / PO and warrants
  • Assist Marketing and Recruitment efforts
Req. candidate profile :
  • 3 years of camp experience (preferably camp administration), or informal environmental education.
  • Demonstrated success in development of educational programs
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Strong management
  • Proficiency with typical office software such is Microsoft Word and Excel, and working knowledge of database programs such as Access.
  • High degree of self-motivation and initiative.
  • Ability to work with others and take direction.
  • Reliability and flexibility required.
  • A positive attitude and sense of humor
  • Background in marine biology, ecology, environmental studies, education or related field strongly encouraged.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High level of maturity and calm demeanor in high-pressure situations, calm confident presence to foster positive parent interactions.
  • High level of customer service.
  • Proficiency in foreign language desirable (Spanish).
  • Life guard certification
  • First aid/CPR
  • Valid driver’s license
