Job description: Research API fulfils three main functions: working closely with Research Analytical and Research Formulations to supply batches of potential new human and animal drug candidates for evaluation. Identifying and selecting the most economic and feasible synthetic route for the preparation of such compounds. Developing the selected route into a safe, reproducible manufacturing process capable of being operated in any client production facility worldwide. The work of the department is fundamental in turning our compounds into medical products that can be of real benefit to people.

  • The candidate will conduct laboratory experiments to support the preparation of bulk quantities of drug substance and also to find and develop improved synthetic routes to compounds in structurally diverse therapeutic agents.
  • The design and development of synthetic routes and processes to drug candidates based on application of technical knowledge and use of appropriate resources, including on line journals and searching tools.
  • Undertaking practical synthetic organic chemistry to demonstrate processes and critical parameters on a laboratory scale prior to transfer to scale up facilities..
  • Reporting of result through both written and verbal communication
Req. candidate profile :
  • PhD in organic synthesis with a BS or BA degree in Chemistry, or a related discipline or BS/BA degree level entry, with substantial experience.
  • Extensive practical synthetic organic chemistry experience.
  • Excellent broad knowledge of synthetic reagents, synthetic methodology, reaction mechanisms, reaction work-ups and isolations and a proven application of this knowledge.
  • Sound chemistry judgment in own work and in problem solving.
  • An ability to plan own work for extended periods.

  • API Development candidate needed for a long term ( 6 mo.) contract with our client in the St. Louis, MO area.
