The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) seeks a talented individual to serve full-time as its Administrator in Washington, D.C. The Administrator will work under the supervision of NAPABA’s Executive Director. The position provides an extraordinary opportunity for the right individual to develop and hone “senior management” skills in a results-oriented small not-for-profit office. Excellent DC location four blocks from the White House.
NAPABA is the national association of Asian Pacific American attorneys, judges, law professors and law students. NAPABA represents the interests of over 40,000 attorneys and 50 local Asian Pacific American bar associations. Its members include solo practitioners, large firm lawyers, corporate counsel, legal service and not-for-profit attorneys, and lawyers serving at all levels of government. NAPABA’s major activities include providing membership services through supporting committee work, providing networking opportunities and developing continuing legal education panels. NAPABA continues to be a leader in addressing civil rights issues confronting Asian Pacific American communities. Through its national network of committees, affiliates and partnerships, NAPABA promotes public service among its membership, provides a strong voice for increased diversity of federal and state judiciaries, advocates for equal opportunity in the workplace, works to eliminate hate crimes and anti-immigrant sentiment, and promotes the professional development of minorities in the legal profession.
The Administrator duties and responsibilities include:
- Working with the Executive Director and the NAPABA Board of Governors in setting and implementing management policies and projects;
- Developing and maintaining financial records, and working with Treasurer and Accountant to ensure fiscal integrity;
- Assisting the Executive Director and the NAPABA Board with fundraising activities;
- Conducting research to identify potential funding sources and writing grants;
- Coordinating convention planning efforts;
- Assembling and editing various publications, including the organization’s newsletter;
- Responding to affiliate and membership concerns and supporting committee activities;
Qualifications: 2-4 years of related work experience. A Bachelors degree is required. Successful applicant must be detail and results oriented, have good writing skills, and capable of juggling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. He or she must be a self starter with strong leadership, interpersonal, communications, and management skills. Some travel is required.
