Job description: BASIC FUNCTIONS
Lead the mechanical and electrical team through the research and investigation of new product concepts including feasibility studies and proof of concept development.
Work with marketing, sales, and design to create and document clear product targets including target cost and functional specifications.
Develop and manage the project schedule, development budget, and resource plans for new products.
Manage internal team of Mechanical and Electrical engineers to support the resource plan and product roadmap.
Develop and manage relationships with global contract engineering teams including RFQ and vendor selection process.
Coordinate communication and collaboration between Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, outside engineering contractors, and Manufacturing.
Drive all aspects of development during detailed design, prototyping, tooling, validation, regulatory testing, and introduction to production to ensure overall project goals are achieved.
Identify and manage critical path actions, risk items, and issues
Provide clear and consistent communication to cross-functional teams through design reviews, status meetings, meeting agendas/minutes, and project dashboards.
Implement and improve design processes including the phase gate process, design checklists, product data management (PDM), and schedule/budget/document templates.
Overall responsibility for ensuring elegant, reliable, and manufacturable product designs.


Experience - External:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BS or MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Must have at least 5 years experience in Engineering Program Management leading cross-functional teams on development programs.
Established history of successful consumer product launches.
Excellent written and verbal communications
Detailed knowledge of product development and manufacturing processes
Current and working knowledge of program management tools and best practices
Must have experience working with overseas product development and manufacturing.
Must have experience establishing and managing design processes and procedures.
Strong engineering & design background (ME or EE).
Experience in Pro/E CAD, FEA, DOE, FMEA, Schematic Capture, and Layout.
Should have plastics injection molding part design experience and familiarity with injection tooling design.
Experienced engineering team manager with strong interpersonal skills who leads by example and inspires team support.
Enthusiastic, hands on, and extremely organized, project driver with a strong desire to own fast paced development programs.
Fearless problem solver and multitasking capable.
Passion for technology and a relentless drive for success and quality.
Experience in Consumer Electronics and specifically Digital Audio Players, BT Stereo & other wireless technologies a strong plus.
Some overseas travel required.
