Since 1991, The Cara Program has placed over 1,800 individuals in permanent, quality jobs with benefits, with job retention rates at one year of employment of 73%. In addition, we are in the midst of a three-year strategic plan, in which we will double our permanent job placements, and expand our programs to serve over 1,000 men and women each year by the end of 2008.
The Cara Program is seeking a Vice President of Finance to lead the program in effectively managing its financial growth from a $3 million operation to a $10 million operation over the next few years. The ideal candidate will thrive in an entrepreneurial, “start-up like” environment and will be responsible for the following:

| Job duties: |
• Assist the CEO and management team in the development and management of the annual operating budget, ensure that financial systems and procedures comply with the agency’s financial and legal policies, practices and regulations and will adequately fund the agency’s plan of work.
• Coordinate the preparation of financial statements/reports, cash flow projections and forecasts, special analyses and informational reports as needed.
• Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports and recommendations.
• Work with Development staff to define fundraising requirements that support strategic objectives.
• Conduct research and make recommendations on the optimal growth rate for the program, proper revenue targets, managing costs, and assessing the financial feasibility of new ventures.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive, accurate system for evaluating ROI/SROI that will provide clear comparative information to powerfully market programs to potential investors.
• Approve and coordinate changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems.
• Develop, recommend and implement internal financial controls and policies to ensure the agency’s assets are protected.
• Create and implement investment policy and invest excess cash as appropriate.
• Provide guidance to the Human Resources staff on all employee benefits and outside consultant agreements.
• Ensure that the organization is competitive in terms of staff compensation and benefits and complies with all equal opportunity requirements.
• Manage the annual independent audit and any additional audits required by specific donors or funding agencies; ensure the resolution of all audit findings on a timely basis.
• Ensure that annual reports to the IRS and other federal and state agencies are filed in compliance with legal guidelines.
• Oversee all information technology and telecommunications systems and the purchase, lease and maintenance of equipment.
• Manage the development and publication of statistical information.
• Oversee the management of multiple facilities including leasing, set up and equipment.
• Provide effective management, coaching and development to finance department staff members.

| Req. candidate profile : |
MBA, CPA or CFA preferred; 5-10 years financial management experience; strategic planning experience.
Demonstrated ability with computerized accounting systems, proven ability to develop, analyze and interpret financial reports, ability to maximize resources and excellent judgment.
