| Job description: | Systems Support Technician

Scope of Position Reporting to the System Administrator, the System Support Technician is responsible for maintaining the NT Local Area Network, Workstations, Wide Area Network and all On Line Broadcast Printers running in the facility. This position is to be on call and available to troubleshoot IT related issues. Position Summary Monitor, support and maintain all Windows NT v40/2000/2003 Servers, Windows 98/2000/XP Workstations and Error Proofing Workstations to keep them up and running. Monitor, support and maintain operation the LAN and required hardware equipment (Patch Panels, UPS Server, Routers, Terminal Servers, Hubs, Switches). Installation of software/hardware on workstation PC’s connected to the network Administer, implement, configure and set up the telecommunications systems (land phones, cell, mike, pagers) Troubleshooting Security and Burglary Systems hardware and equipment Monitor and troubleshoot the Access Control Systems hardware and equipment Monitor, implement, configure, setup and PM all Production Floor Devices and hardware equipment (Broadcast Printers, Handheld Scanners, PC’s, VCVS Terminals, Wedges, UPS, Remote Rack Structures) and installing the software/hardware on the plant floor and configuring the device for production use. Monitor, implement, configure, setup and PM Office Equipment (Fax Machines, Photocopiers, Network Printers, Office Scanners, Digital Camera, UPS, Rack Structures). Providing technical support and to all users for Windows NT 4.0 Workstation, Windows 98/2000/XP Workstations, MS Office 2000/XP, Error Proofing Systems, Solomon IV, Q-pulse , E-time software and clocks, E-mail, and Internet etc. Monitor, maintain and support Internet connections. Assist in research of technical innovations and advancements. Provide input and feedback in project launch ventures when pertaining to data, telecommunication and/or broadcast installation and support. Responding to all systems needs including security, access control, phone systems and voice mail, error proofing systems, maintenance on computers and printers as well as upgrades. Being on call 7/24 to assist in all urgent IT related situations. Maintain daily communications to System Administrator and other staff on all current issues. Monitor, support and maintain Error Proofing systems in all locations Assist in design of work instructions directly related to the functioning of Error Proofing controls Troubleshooting of production critical fixturing, componentry etc. that is required to ensure 100% defect free product to customer Monitor, support and maintain programming and updating of all electronic tooling systems (Atlas Copco, Cleco etc) ensuring that information and data is being gathered and is accurate to specifications Available as a resource to PLC programmers & technical suppliers involved in system upgrades and maintenance Available to move between all facilities Facilitate training to supervisors and Managers on system requirements and common knowledge repairs that will assist in better understanding of processes Monitor all tooling and data feeds from work stations to data bases, maintaining as required Monitor and auditing of all electronic tooling to ensure correct tolerances and customer specifications are being withheld Monitor, support and maintain error proofing component replacements such as sensors, poke yokes, step pads, light curtains etc. Work with outside vendors (where applicable) to ensure system remains intact and fully operational Maintain supply base and availability of common parts required to fix, repair or replace system problems Selection Criteria Education Post Secondary Education Community College Diploma in Computer Systems/ Networking Applications Experience One to three years hands-on computer systems/networking experience in a just-in-time manufacturing environment. Key Measurements of the Position Attainment of financial goals. Meeting and exceeding systems reliabilities to staff and their customer’s expectations. Being available when needed. Keeping management well informed of the systems activities on a regular basis. Quality Management System Responsibility May initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformity’s relating to the product, process and quality system. May identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system. May initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels. This position will be a challenge as we will need an individual who is capable of working shifts (Days and afternoons with possible midnights) to support the production organization. We will pay a salary in the range of $50K to $55K; OT after 44 hours and entitlement to an annual bonus plan that could pay up to a maximum of 9% of base salary. |
