Job description: The Data Center Technical Coordinator is responsible for the installation, upkeep, and coordination of server hardware and related components for University data center facilities. The position will plan and forecast data center machine space locations for new and existing equipment. The position exists to provide a stable and sustainable continuity of hardware providing the foundation for all open-systems data center platforms. The position will be the point of contact for data center parts inventory and be responsible for maintaining that inventory and purchasing of server hardware systems, components, and services. This position will work very closely with the various groups in ITaP to ensure systems hardware needs are met and standard configurations utilized within the data center environments.

Minimum Requirements:
Required:
Associates Degree Business, Computer Information Systems or related fields. One year of experience working with enterprise-class server hardware in a LAN networking/distributed computing environment. Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience. Experience should include installing, specifying, documenting, and troubleshooting server hardware, cabling, and networking. A demonstrated knowledge of server hardware and architectures including Intel-based enterprise-class hardware. A demonstrated knowledge of routed and multi-segment networks. Ability to read and produce technical documentation relating to the physical installation of data center computing hardware and cabling. Ability to understand and maintain purchasing and inventory control systems necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication. Self-motivated, work independently on daily tasks, and have a strong desire to learn. Ability to interact with a variety of customers in a professional manner. Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally.

Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Information Systems or related field. Knowledge of data center physical infrastructure. A+ Hardware Certification. Some knowledge of advanced enterprise-class data center systems including storage area networks, network firewalls, and server clustering.
