Job description: POSITION SUMMARY:

Receives incoming calls and provides comparative rate quotes to prospective clients with the objective of converting the sales lead to a policyholder while supporting underwriting guidelines, maintaining set quality standards, and providing a positive customer experience. The position involves counseling and educating consumers about Unitrin Directs products and services, explaining how the products and services can meet consumers' needs and selling policies. The position requires outbound calling to prospective sales leads. May answer inquiries and resolve problems. Knowledge of organization, product and/or services as well as underwriting guidelines required. Adherence to established schedule/telephone expectations, while producing quality results a must. Must be flexible and at all times remain professional with a positive attitude.

BUSINESS OBJECTIVES:

Sales:
Answers incoming calls to provide comparative rate quotes to prospective clients with the objective of converting the sales lead to a policyholder while supporting underwriting guidelines, maintaining set quality standards, and providing a positive customer experience. This includes establishing rapport with prospective clients while counseling and educating the consumer regarding coverage, premium rates, and policy language. Listens to client, identify needs and offer viable solutions to customer concerns while promoting the company brand and product. Obtains all necessary information to ensure the rating integrity and quality of each new business application. Makes outbound calls to prospective sales leads as well as follow up calls. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending and participating in training classes as scheduled.

Consistently meets or exceeds the minimum requirements for quality and bind checklists as defined by the Sales Standard of Performance (SOP). Understands company forms, methods, workflow procedures and is conversant in the area of product knowledge. Handles all calls and inquiries in a professional and efficient manner with a positive attitude. Controls the call by refraining from side conversation and minimizing handle time. Thoroughly and accurately captures all data and documents comments in appropriate systems.

Production:
Consistently meets or exceeds the minimum requirement for sales as defined by the Sales Standard of Performance (SOP).

EDUCATION//EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

2 year degree required; 4 year degree preferred or minimum (2) years experience in personal lines Underwriting, Sales and/or Customer Service, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of two (2) years prior sales or customer service experience preferred.
Property & Casualty License a plus or must successfully pass Property & Casualty licensing exam and be able to obtain the Property & Casualty Licenses.
Proficiency with MS Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook essential.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Position requires extensive use of keyboard involving repetitive motions with fingers, sitting for prolonged periods of time, and extensive use of telephone and face-to-face communication that requires accurate perception of speech and hearing. This position requires close vision, distant vision, and the ability to adjust focus. There is moderate noise in the work environment.
