| Job description: |
Maintain computer network at top performance (16,servers and 100 station Windows network). Support database needs including report writing and database training for the museum.
Reports to Information Technology Manager; assist three-person IT team. Position is classified Salaried/exempt. Thirty-five hour work week.

| Job duties: |
Responsibilities
1. Monitor the network and supporting software; maintain LAN security and network performance; make recommendations to meet growing needs of the Museum.
2. Maintain network backups including media, schedule, and file restore/recovery.
3. Assist in troubleshooting systems administration, network applications, system diagnosis, repairs, upgrades, and maintenance of operating systems and network databases.
4. Support Microsoft Access Databases include assisting in development, creating SQL reports and automating processing using SQL and VBA.
5. Maintain documentation of service, software inventory, installation documentation, setup instructions for all network systems.
6. Assist with maintaining network policies and procedures as outlined in the Staff IT Handbook; assist with training and compliance.
7. Backup to IT Technician for maintenance of telecommunications and a/v equipment.
8. Maintain confidentiality regarding all sensitive museum information.
9. On call for network and backup issues.

| Req. candidate profile : |
Qualifications
• Computer science degree or related education and work equivalent.
• Minimum two years experience with network administration with Windows 2000+ Server and Unix or Linux.
• Knowledge of general principles of computer network systems operations, including LAN operations and security issues
• Experience with MS Office suite, MAC and PC platforms; Access Programming, SQL scripting, VBA and Linux.
• Experience with TCP/IP and other network topologies; Windows; DNS, Exchange, web server, Spam filtering.
• Crystal Reports, html, XML, php, and mySQL helpful.
• Ability to manage concurrent projects; organizational and record-keeping skills needed.
• Ability to identify potential problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze data, and develop alternative solutions.
• Customer service focus, self-motivated & ability to work independently and with a team with staff and vendors.
• Must be reliable, flexible, able to follow instructions and exercise good judgment.
• Must be available to work as needed to support programs.
