POSITION TITLE:
SENIOR PRODUCT ENGINEER (ELECTRICAL)
INDUSTRY:
MANUFACTURING CAPITAL EQUIPMENT
LOCATION: SE WISCONSIN
DESCRIPTION:
Assist supervisory engineers in the supervision, design determination, and design creation of electrical systems for the Mining Machinery Division product line. May perform functions described in lower classified engineering positions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Initiate concepts and generate and/or supervise electrical production or development. Designs which are functional and cost effective and integrate these designs into complete areas of a machine by utilizing innovations and design expertise.
•Perform necessary calculations to insure acceptable product performance and life.
•Develop where necessary, complex electronic circuitry to provide proper variable speed control of each product motion. Where such circuitry is developed by a supplier provide an evaluation report that is intended to point out strengths and weaknesses of the design. Propose and evaluate the impact of design improvements to correct the weaknesses.
•Computer model and/or simulate product performance and use this model to eliminate design weaknesses.
•Write microprocessor code to insure proper product performance.
•Develop programmable -controller programs or relay logic to provide system interlocking and protective circuitry for assigned products.
•Perform overall design checking and approve completed designs to assure feasibility, functionality, and reliability of final design.
•Direct design personnel in the successful completion of system designs through technical reviews, manufacturing interaction, vendor consultation, and effective manpower planning and control.
•Aid the overall effort toward sales and customer satisfaction by analyzing and correcting field and shop problems, formulating product maintenance plans, and providing support on parts and sales inquiries with technical data and customer presentations.
REQUIREMENTS:
•BSEE with a working knowledge of feedback control, large horsepower AC or DC drive systems and mining machinery excavator experience or job knowledge gained through experience as defined in "Length and Type of Experience".
•In addition to the experience requirements as defined for Product Engineer, this position requires demonstration of abilities to manage design teams in concepting, analyzing and in the preparation of design specifications for large horsepower AC and/or DC drive systems applications, with preference to those of mining machinery excavating equipment.
***Shovel and/or dragline experience a must.***
