Senior System Administrator – Waltham, MA

Our client creates large scale proprietary databases of information on companies and people by using scalable systems. They employ big data technologies to extract accurate information from tens of millions of websites and other electronic proprietary sources. Their databases contain information on some 95M individuals and 7M companies in the US. They license this information to sales organizations, marketing departments, recruiters and small companies.

Our client is looking for an outstanding Senior System Administrator with previous experience working in a highly-available development and production environment (e.g., they're running at 99.999%) that can support their development and release efforts.
Job duties: Responsibilities:
•Create and define a DevOps role, including build, release, and code coverage operations
•Develop processes, tools, and documentation in support of production operations
•Evaluate new software, hardware and infrastructure solutions
•Participate in an on-call rotation and be willing to jump on escalated issues as needed
•Train and mentor junior staff to improve their ability to support the environment
Req. candidate profile : Required Experience:
•5+ years’ experience in systems integration including workstation configuration and scripting in Windows, OSX, and Linux environments
•5-8 years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis
•Configuration troubleshooting and maintenance of LDAP, Windows, Linux, and OSX systems
•Familiar with load balancer and firewall concepts and practices
•Automating management of systems and applications using Perl, Python, or Ruby
•Experience with industry-standard operational practices such as change management, incident management, and working in colocation data centers.
•Operating production Internet-facing services for large enterprise customers
•Managing multi-tier web services using technologies such as Apache web server or Tomcat, Java applications, and MySQL
•DevOps experience working in a configuration management framework such as Puppet, CFEngine, or Chef
•Troubleshooting and upgrading Puppet
•Monitoring and alerting systems such as Nagios, Cacti, and Ganglia
•OpenStack or KVM virtualization technologies
•Experience managing Hadoop, Cassandra, and Solr services
•Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work experience

Desirable Qualifications:
•CentOS or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and creating RPM packages. RHCE is a plus
•Experience implementing and working with FOSS application stacks (httpd, JBoss, Hadoop, Solr, Cassandra) in Linux environments
