SureFire is the leading manufacturer of high-end flashlights and weapon lights. We are presently seeking a seasoned Product Development Manager. The Product Development Manager will lead and oversee the full life cycle development of many SureFire products from concept to completion.
Job Summary and Responsibilities:
: Manages the day-to-day progress of full life cycle product development.
: Participates in overall product strategy, research and development requirements, development, and manufacturing coordination for new and emerging products.
: Provides technical expertise, recommendations and training to other departments in support of product development.
: Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to develop and provide product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.
: Maintains all communications and contacts to collect and analyze technical, financial, schedule, and sales information for product line.
: Evaluates, analyzes, and makes recommendations on products, designs, and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of the company.
: Leads problem identification, definition, analysis, solution generation, and solution implementation.
: Procures materials needed to construct prototypes and supervises the design engineering of new models.
: Plans and develops test programs for prototypes.
: Analyzes test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
: Prepares product development objectives and schedules for all phases of product development and introduction to market.
Qualifications:
: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis in Management is required.
: Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience within Mechanical Engineering Product Design & Development.
: Minimum of 7 years of personnel management experience.
: Minimum of 5+ years of project management level work experience.
: Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams - effectively planning and prioritizing work, proactively identifying and addressing problems and managing project work.
: Background in electronic / mechanical engineering and managing the development of consumer products is preferred.
: Intermediate knowledge of AutoCAD and PADs is a huge plus.
: Must have strong written and verbal communications skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
: Must be extremely organized and deadline driven in managing multiple projects from concept to finish.
: Intermediate to expert level computer and software application skills, including the entire Microsoft Office Suite. Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project and the ability to create and modify Pert / Gant charts pertaining to the R&D Cycle.
: A PMI (Program Management Institute) Certified Program Manager is preferred, but not required.
