| Job description |
| Job description: |
The POSTDOCTORAL POSITION is available in the Molecular Biology Division of the DVA Medical Center, San Francisco for basic research on Escherichia coli Complex II (succinate dehydrogenase).
The research will involve the use of site-specific mutagenesis to alter the environment of the heme or flavin prosthetic groups of Complex II with the goal of studying in detail the redox properties of these cofactors, and, hopefully, to identify the site of reactive-oxygen generation by this enzyme. The research is relevant directly to reactive-oxygen production by mitochondria and oxidative stress. This research is aided by the availability of the high-resolution x-ray crystal structure of the Complex.
The research is supported by a Department of Veterans Affairs Merit Review Grant.
Compensation - GS 7 Research Biologist, $40,000/year + benefits
The Department of Veterans Affairs is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
