Job description
Job description: Chevron Federal Credit Union is looking for an Assistant Branch Manager to assist in managing, directing and administering the operations and business development efforts of its Houston branch.
  • Coordinates or personally performs deposit, lending and member service functions in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by the credit union. Assists manager to ensure the branch is in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations set forth by the NCUA and other regulatory agencies.
  • Monitors key products / sales within the branch to meet strategic and corporate goals. Coaches and monitors staff to offer excellent service to members, and to ensure that employees are maximizing opportunities to sell products and services. Serves as the team coach for the GEMS sales culture.
  • Under the guidance of the manager, coordinates deposit, lending and member services functions in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by the credit union.
  • Where appropriate, evaluates work of employees, conducts performance appraisals, recommends promotions and reassignments, participates in the hiring of new employees, and performs related personnel functions. Provides training and assistance to employees to ensure efficient and effective delivery of member services.
  • Reviews operational problems with staff and branch manager for solutions or modifications to operations. Conducts staff meetings and training to ensure that staff is thoroughly trained in all credit union products and services.
  • Assists in ensuring the security and safety of the branch by routinely reviewing security and safety policies and procedures, and alerting staff to any changes.
  • Ensures that the branch image is favorable, reflecting a sound and secure financial institution that employs prudent housekeeping procedures, safety measures, and provides a pleasant atmosphere for members, including privacy, confidentiality, and ease of use.
  • Balances cash, suspense general ledger, and daily sheet each day, signs checks and reconciles petty cash and replenishes as necessary; conducts branch and teller audits monthly.
  • Reviews loan files for completeness prior to forwarding to the Consumer Lending department, utilizing an automated loan processing system; or refers loans to Consumer Loan Manager for approval.
  • Resolves account problems promptly and provides accurate information to members.
Req. candidate profile :
  • The ideal candidate will have at least an Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; plus at least three years related experience and/or training at a supervisory level in a financial institution (i.e., Loan Manager, or Member Services Manager); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The person in this position must have excellent communication, supervisory, customer service and problem-solving skills. An aptitude for sales is essential.
