Perform weld engineering to electron beam (EB) weld titanium tanks for the International Space Station Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS). These tanks will be manufactured by NASA at MSFC. This support will generally consist of technical oversight of the welding per relevant standards (e.g. NASA-STD-5006), drawings and specifications and providing technical insight into solving problems or improving the process.

| Job duties: |
The successful candidate will be able to:
* Supervise process development for the EB weld manufacturing of the ECLSS tanks for the MSFC Materials and Processes Laboratory's Metals Engineering Division (EM30).
* Obtain Weld Development-specific materials (e.g. weld panel materials, tooling and fixturing, equipment, tools and supplies).
* Coordinate and expedite inspection, specimen machining and testing of welded panels.
* Perform an engineering review and quality check of the data.
* Perform statistical and other data analysis.
* Prepare reports and data packages per ESTS and EM30 requirements.
* Archive the data in the EM30 archival system per EM30 requirements.
* Supervise the weld manufacturing of the ECLSS tanks for EM30.

Education, Training & Experience
BS degree in Welding Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution with a minimum of 1 year applicable weld engineering experience is required. Experience must include knowledge of appropriate process standards, process development techniques, nondestructive inspection techniques, mechanical testing techniques, metallurgical evaluation techniques and statistical analysis techniques. Prior hands-on welding experience in a manufacturing environment is also required.
Prior experience with electron beam welding, titanium welding, and/or friction stir welding is desired but not required.

Physical Requirements
Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (80%). Requires ability to walk between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and Jacobs facilities (10%). Stairs or elevators can gain access.
Work Environment
Office environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (<15%).
Equipment and Machines
Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).
Attendance
Normal workday is from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.
Other Essential Functions
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment (100%). Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
