Provide electrical integration engineering support to the ES42 E3 & Electrical Integration Branch of the Space Systems Department in the Engineering Directorate. The electrical integration support encompasses electrical integration and interfaces, power distribution, grounding and Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE). System engineering support will be provided in the areas of requirements development, implementation and verification. System and sub-system engineering support will be provided in design, development and test support. Wire harness design, development and analysis will be provided for in-house hardware. Insight will be provided for procured EGSE and for procured electrical and avionics hardware integrated by MSFC including review and monitoring of development contractor design and fabrication activities.
The candidate will put in around 24 hours a week providing avionics engineering support for the Ares I Avionics Integration WBS (Vehicle Integration) for MSFC, as well as development and assistance for other Ares I elements. In addition, will support and coordinate with the Ares I Avionics IPT and the Ares I project office as necessary.

Education, Training & Experience
BS degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution with a minimum of 10 years applicable experience is required. NASA Electrical/Avionics Integration experience. Experience with the NASA electrical design fabrication of cable harnesses is required. Familiarization with Visio software, electrical schematics, and cable interconnect diagrams is required.

Physical Requirements
Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at MSFC facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Requires sitting at a desk to write reports and perform engineering task activities (40%). Requires standing, sitting and walking in a lab environmnent with hazards that require wearing safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, and gloves to perform some operations (50%). Work will be performed on-site at NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center (100%). Use of stairs or elevators can gain access to buildings.
Work Environment
General office environment (50%), materials test lab (50%). Requires ability to interact effectively with co-workers, managers, and clients. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, and accurate communications, both verbally and in writing (50%). Travel may be necessary, but infrequent (<5%).
Equipment and Machines
Requires ability to operate a personal computer, telephone, task related software, and other general office equipment (50%). Requires the ability to operate materials test equipment (50%).
Attendance
Days and times will be adapted to fit a modified full-time schedule that best fits the project, dictated by the employee's supervisor.(100%)
Other Essential Functions
Ability to communicate effectively and work with minimal supervision is essential. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
