The successful candidate for this position is expected to provide leadership in the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in agricultural communications. The successful candidate also will be expected to work closely with the administration of the Cooperative Extension Service and the Agricultural Communications Services unit in communicating the impact of OCES programs. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized program of scholarship.
Major Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in written communications and media writing; provide guidance, training and support to OCES personnel in the development, organization, and writing of program outcome and impact materials to promote the OSU Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources' programs; work closely with Agricultural Communications Services personnel in DASNR marketing and visibility efforts; contribute to the scholarship of the profession through publishing in peer-reviewed journals, presenting at research conferences, and obtaining external grants and/or contracts; advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students; be an active member of the department's agricultural communications and graduate work groups; and conduct appropriate service activities within the department, college, university and profession. After the first six-months in this position, the successful applicant, in concert with the department head and dean, will have the opportunity to revise the position description to define more fully the goals and objectives for this position.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate or must have completed at least all requirements toward a doctoral degree except the dissertation (ABD) in agricultural communications, mass communications, journalism, agricultural education, or a closely related discipline. A reasonable completion date of the dissertation will be negotiated with the successful candidate as a condition of employment. The qualified candidate must have professional experience in agricultural communications or a related area. Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarly promise.
