RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages all Adult Education programs for non-speakers of English, including assessment, placement, curriculum, supervision of instructional staff and evaluation.
- Manages the enrollment in ESL program, including integration of intake, retention, and completion
- Develops and coordinates the implementation of ESL curricula that leads to transition into college credit courses, i.e. Rhetoric. In collaboration with the Director of Transition.
- Provides Leadership in collaboration of ESL and credit programs at Triton for development of courses focused on students transitioning.
- Develops and coordinates procedures for assessment and placement of non native speakers of English in Adult Basic Education programs and/or college programming.
- Develops schedules for ESL courses
- Review, selects, develops and disseminates instructional materials appropriate to adult ESL learners.
- Lends assistance to Director of GED/Evening High School in development of Spanish skills and GED curricula. Collaborates with the Director of GED/Evening High School in development of Spanish basic skills and GED classes.
- Develops, in conjunction with the Director of Triton's Volunteers for Literacy Projects, the Spanish/ESL Literacy Program. Designs new ESL courses in accordance with ICCB guidelines.
- Assists the Dean in the selection and assignment of ESL instructional staff. Interviews and recommends for hiring new ESL instructors and assigns course load to all instructors.
- Supervises and evaluates the ESL instructional staff under the guidance of the Dean of Adult Basic Education.
- Promotes and supports a learner centered environment for ESL students through the development of initiatives and continuous professional development for the instructional and support staff.
- Works with other College staff in the planning and implementation of staff development activities for ESL faculty. Work with other College staff and state approved training venues in the development, planning and implementation of professional development activities for ESL faculty and staff.
- Develops and implements the assessment plan for the ESL program, including the development of program outcome measures to ensure college readiness. Also, develops program outcome measures in relationship to other college programs.
- Models and pilots instructional strategies for curricula and program improvement.
- Participates actively in local, state and national activities for TESOL
- Assists in grant procurement and management.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor, the Dean of Adult Basic Education.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Master's Degree in ESL, or related field.
EXPERIENCE: Three years' experience teaching ESL to non native speakers, preferably in a post secondary educational setting. Demonstrated experience in program development, curriculum development, management and supervision. Demonstrated ability to recruit, hire and evaluate instructional staff, Grant proposal writing and grant management experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE: Adult ESL and Adult learning theories and methodology Curriculum development, delivery and assessment, Program management and evaluation.
SKILLS: Appreciates diversity and works with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingual preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills with those of diverse backgrounds. Understands and Implements technology to enhance learner-centered learning.
