This firm is looking for an energetic and focused Field Application Engineer for their Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Group in Schaumburg, IL. This position will provide application/integration related technical services including pre and post sales support, application review and evaluation, product specification assistance, field service, and product training for the company’s sales staff and customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide application support to sales staff in making joint sales calls when technical skills, demonstrations, or presentations are required.
· Advise customers on selection, use and maintenance of products for specific applications.
· Provide installation, engineering and programming assistance to customers to help solve their applications using the company’s products.
· Assist in the development and delivery of standard and custom training course materials, as subject matter expert, to support product training requirements.
· Assist customers in troubleshooting product or application problems.
· Provide customers with on-site service, complaint investigation, diagnosing, and troubleshooting.
· Convey technical information to the development group when factory assistance is required
· Document and record all activity using established methods and tools
· Accomplish special projects and duties as assigned by manager.
REQUIREMENTS:
· BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field from a four-year college or technical school.
· 5-10 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Knowledge, service, and application experience in the following areas are must haves;
o Surface Mount Technology (SMT)
o Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)
· Working knowledge and experience with Windows XP/Server 2003, Windows Networking and Microsoft Office Applications.
· Demonstrated knowledge of electronics and laboratory electrical measurement and test devices,
· Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
· Experience with database and scripting languages such as MS-SQL, Oracle and Visual Basic knowledge is a plus.
· Strong analytical thinking.

· Team player mentality, but able to work independently as required.

· 35% to 50% travel.
