To provide legal advice on a wide range of corporate, constitutional, administrative, intellectual property, and animal protection issues that arise in the conduct of the organization’s charitable programs |
| Job duties: |
*Conduct legal research on corporate issues pertaining to the formation, maintenance, and day-to-day operation of corporations, contracts, intellectual property, real estate, insurance, employment law, and tax exemptions
*Assist in coordinating and ensuring compliance with corporate governance requirements
*Assist with review of and advice on Internet features, news releases, and other publications
*Conduct legal research on constitutional issues, such as freedom of speech, freedom of association, and defamation
*Conduct legal research on a variety of animal protection and animal rights issues, statutes, and regulations, such as the Animal Welfare Act, the Humane Slaughter Act, cruelty-to-animals statutes, and statutes and regulations governing humane societies and veterinarians
*Draft correspondence, contracts, and applications
*Draft requests under state and federal freedom of information acts
Provide assistance to other attorneys, as needed

| Req. candidate profile : |
*J.D. and a minimum of three years’ experience
*Member in good standing of a state bar
*Strong legal research and writing skills
*Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues
*Ability to handle multiple tasks with strict time constraints
*Experience in corporate law, administrative law, constitutional law, animal rights law, and/or criminal law preferred
*Commitment to the objectives of the organization
