| Job duties: | As a new team member you’ll receive training and mentoring to excel as a Work Practice Designer. This means you’ll actively participate in user research, understanding the user’s work practice and bring that understanding into the full design process; helping to create solutions for our clients. Being a part of this innovative, disciplined process provides skills and training that our employees believe to be invaluable – and produces best-in-class designs for clients. |
| Req. candidate profile : | Those who have a background in the social sciences and humanities, technical writing, human-computer interaction, business analysis, information systems, user research or other related fields are ideal candidates for our Work Practice Designers. Or perhaps you are a product manager or software engineer who wants to work in a small company environment and focus on designing products that are driven by actually face-to face customer research.
This position is ideal for someone with a Bachelor’s degree and 3-4 years of experience – or candidates with a Masters or PhD with 2+ years experience – and who are looking to expand their horizons by performing in a fast-paced, consulting environment. Travel is expected as part of this job. We are looking for people with these characteristics: • Excited to produce innovative and practical designs that impact the life and work of the end user/employees while meeting the business needs of our clients • Exceptional communication skills, both writing and presentation • Good interpersonal skills, can get along easily with others working on small, collaborative teams over extended periods of time while maintaining a positive attitude • Eagerness to learn the Contextual Design process and follow it • Able to track activities, stay organized, and eventually lead projects Additional useful characteristics: • Experience with user research work • Project management experience Special consideration will be given to candidates with any of the following: background in business process redesign, Six Sigma and/or speaks multiple languages.
