Job description
Job description: Executive Director will be responsible for all managerial, administrative and financial matters in the organization. The Executive Director will lead and support CARMHA’s faculty, scientists, project managers, research assistants, accounting and administrative staff with appropriate financial and organizational information. Performing the organization’s human resource needs and interest/experience in managing personnel is also required. The successful candidate will exercise considerable judgment, tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature. Innovative and resourceful, you are a hands-on leader within an organization facilitating internal communication and providing ongoing feedback and financial information where necessary.

You will work closely with SFU Research Accounting, SFU Office of Research Services, and the Faculty of Health Sciences to ensure University policies and procedures are followed. The Executive Director will also interact closely and negotiate contracts with partnering Ministries, Health Authorities, and various funding agencies, as well as negotiating all vendor agreements. You will also be responsible for preparing and participating in annual staff reviews and entering into employment contracts on behalf of the Director.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring the organization’s business affairs are administered efficiently and effectively and in accordance with university policies, laws and agreements
  • Development, drafting and negotiating of research contracts, including deliverables, review and proper execution of research agreements
  • Meeting with senior officials and executives from Health Authorities, Government, and the University to build relationships and represent CARMHA’s interests
  • Communicating and remaining accessible, approachable, patient and empathetic
  • Leading and participating in managerial line functions including hiring, clarifying work processes, human resources, and annual performance reviews
  • Ensuring fiscal responsibility of the organization including budget management, and dealing with personnel, vendors and suppliers
  • Experience in grant writing and fundraising a definite asset
Req. candidate profile : Qualifications:
  • 3+ years broad experience in senior management, preferably with public sector or health care administration focus
  • Educational background in human resources, social sciences, business, law, or health care related field
  • Experience in project or general accounting an asset
  • Experience in contracting and developing research deliverables in concert with faculty and project requirements
  • Excellent written, organizational and communication skills
  • Works independently within a team environment with the ability to multi-task and work to multiple deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective and responsible leadership
  • Experience creating mutually beneficial partnerships and developing new revenue streams a definite asset
