Job description: Responsibilities:
  • To visualize, conceive and propose projects, and to synthesize and provide samples of new fine and specialty chemicals for the enhancement of Penn A Kem’s business.
  • To serve as key Customer Technical Service support to existing and new customers for our existing and new products.
  • To provide expertise for the existing Fine Chemical production and chemistries to improve, modify, solve problems, lower costs, overcome environmental issues, etc.
  • To organize approved projects by planning and prioritizing the appropriate details in order to make most effective use of personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • To maintain good records and write reports and memos in a timely manner as required keeping others informed of the status of projects.
  • To successfully move laboratory synthesis processes into pilot status supported by sound data, equipment and procedural proposals, as well as in-process control test and product analysis.
  • To oversee Pilot Plant projects whether internal or external.
  • To provide for Applications Development support for existing and new products including conducting application development studies/lab work or directing this effort via outside contract firms
  • To provide material balance data, and economic and environmental studies on new processes.
  • To maintain awareness of pertinent new literature, products, developments and equipment to ensure the maintenance of efficient chemical research capabilities.
  • To represent Penn A Kem to customers, equipment manufacturers, contractors, suppliers, and industry related agencies and organizations.
  • To facilitate cooperation and teamwork that includes keeping supervisors and management informed and building cooperative relationships within and outside Penn A Kem by exchange of ideas and work results.
  • To make decisions obtaining appropriate information on which to make decisions and to know when to obtain additional information. To gauge competition’s progress in related research activities to ensure that the Company’s position in the industry is aggressive and timely. To keep abreast of current trade organizational information.
  • To maintain effective working conditions which includes maintaining necessary supplies and equipment and promoting good safety habits and housekeeping.
Req. candidate profile : Position Requirements:
  • Prefer a Ph.D. in Chemistry
  • Sound technical background
  • 10 years related industrial experience
