Stevens Institute of Technology invites qualified professionals to apply for the position of Assistant Director of Financial Aid. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, this is a key staff member in our "one stop shop" Student Service Center. Primary responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to: aid packaging and verification of student application data; authorizing financial aid related credit balance refunds; resolving student eligibility and aid disbursement issues; reconciliation of the Federal Pell Grant program; and performing Return to Title IV Funds calculations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with students and the Office of Undergraduate Academic to assist and package students interested in study aboard.
Responsible for maintaining the graduate assistantship fund codes and packing students awarded assistantships accordingly.
Manage the awarding of outside scholarships to confirm that students are not over awarded.
Responsible for overseeing the tuition exchange program
Perform diligent follow up on OSRP, fund management, and the monitoring of expenditures for campus based funds.
Work with financial aid staff to review and monitor institutional and federal verification.
Serve as liaison between Student Service Center and other university offices, outside agencies, students and parents.
Responsible for the reconciliation of funds awarded via the ACG/SMART programs.
Review student accounts with financial aid related overpayments to process for refunds.
Supervise and maintain the federal work-study awarding and disbursement process.
Responsible for reconciling state aid and performing state mandated verification as needed.
Monitor policy and procedures and update as necessary.
Evening and weekend hours are required.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Req. candidate profile :
Qualifications:
We are seeking someone who is dedicated to providing quality service to students and families, is comfortable in an automated, multi-tasking, detail oriented position and has strong problem solving skills. The successful candidate should have three to five years experience in a Financial Aid Office or similar environment, and a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree is preferred. Sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word along with SCT SIS Systems preferred. The individual must be an analytical, detail oriented, highly motivated, independent thinker who possesses excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening). Must be a team player with a demonstrated inter-personal skill in a customer service setting and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with a strong willingness to learn new skills. Prior working experience in college/university environment is preferred but not necessary.
